FOSDEM is the largest free and open source software event in Europe, held annually in Brussels at the ULB Solbosch campus. It is entirely free to attend, requires no registration, and is run by volunteers, which makes it structurally unlike every other conference of its scale. Attendance runs to several thousand across a single weekend, spread across dozens of developer rooms organised by individual project communities covering everything from the Linux kernel and distributions through to programming languages, databases, and open hardware. The main tracks run alongside, with keynotes and cross-cutting sessions. Because there is no registration, rooms fill on a first-come basis and popular sessions overflow quickly.
